Founded in 2003, EcoBuilders is an Asheville, NC green builder committed to building increasingly green, sustainable, energy-efficient homes that harmonize with the environment while delighting the people they serve and inspire. We specialize in thoughtfully designed, green infill homes and custom homes that complement and enhance established neighborhoods. We also provide green renovations and additions, and create select, green commercial spaces and smart development communities.
From building the first certified Healthy Built Home in North Carolina to building the stunning, green Southern Living Idea Home at Whisper Mountain, NC and helping to construct a green, hurricane-proof home in New Orleans – in a week – EcoBuilders has established itself as a regional and national leader in the burgeoning green building movement. EcoBuilder homes are high-performance houses that fit within the traditional construction market. This means that we do not build straw-bale or recycled-tire homes, for example. We use traditional (dimensional) lumber with assembly techniques uniquely suited for energy-efficiency, to create easily-financed and highly-saleable homes in classic and contemporary styles.
To achieve green excellence, we apply the latest advances in green building design, materials, and techniques. At the same time, we are equally dedicated to timeless values and practices. Craftsmanship. Customer service. Honesty. Integrity. Punctuality. Exceptional value. And the belief that a home should be deeply satisfying to live in and own. EcoBuilders was founded by Rob Moody. As a UNC Asheville Biology student and then an Environmental Science educator in his native Haywood County, NC, Rob gave great thought to humans’ role in the natural world, and developed a parallel, passionate interest in building science. These two interests converged into a philosophy of green building that guides and energizes EcoBuilders.
In 2006, Jack Bebber joined the ownership team. Prior to joining EcoBuilders. Jack taught history, farmed organically, and operated a multi-million-dollar real estate firm. Jack’s business acumen and reverence for historic architecture and its preservation strengthen EcoBuilders and add to our dynamism and growth.
