BRIAN LOCKE
carpenter
Brian Locke was born and raised in Pittsburgh, the son of a safety-minded steelworker. He wasn't allowed to touch his first power tool until after his graduation from Penn State, where he earned a degree in English. Putting
his degree to good use, Brian spent his 20's on the California coast tending bar, working as a kayak instructor, and finally installing and maintaining home vineyards. He learned the basics of construction there, pounding stakes in Bay Area granite and laying out vineyards.
A desire to live nearer to his family and the Steelers took him back to Pittsburgh in 2005. After leading the team to a Super Bowl victory he relocated to Asheville with his two best pals, Michael and Nancy, and their three-year old son, Elijah.
Soon after deciding that his future was in building, Brian came to The Ecobuilders to learn how to build well-crafted homes sustainably. His hobbies include backpacking, gardening, and seeing how many grocery bags he can carry at once.
